Songkran, the Thai New Year (13–15 April) (Test)

Songkran is the Thai New Year, celebrated on 13–15 April every year.

• 13 April: Maha Songkran Day. 14 April: Family Day (Wan Nao). 15 April: New Year's Day (Wan Thaloeng Sok).
• Traditional customs: giving alms to monks, bathing Buddha images, and pouring scented water over the hands of elders to ask for their blessing.
• The water fights came later as part of the fun. Play politely, and do not splash monks, people riding motorbikes, or anyone who does not want to join in.

Keep your phone in a waterproof pouch, and take care on the roads: traffic is heavy and accidents rise during the holiday.
